Zachary Robinson | 3L

Zach was born and raised in Southeast Missouri, and majored in Journalism at Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. After graduation, Zach worked as a news producer at a TV station in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. While at Mizzou Law, Zach has been heavily involved with transactional law student organizations, and has written an article analyzing the effects of a recently passed tax law on sports player contracts, which was published in BETR. After graduating from Mizzou Law, Zach will join the Mergers & Acquisitions Tax practice with KPMG in Boston, MA.

JoEllen Grohs | 3L

Jo Grohs grew up in Festus, Missouri, and received a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri in 2017. During law school, she has worked as a Rule 13 certified student in the Prosecution Clinic and published an article for BETR. In her free time, Jo enjoys watching sports, reading, and bingeing TV shows. After graduation from law school she hopes to work in criminal law.

Sydney Johnson | 3L

Sydney Johnson was born and raised in Saint Charles, Missouri and received a B.A. in Chemistry from the University of Missouri – Columbia. During law school, Sydney has focused on intellectual property and served as president of the Association for Intellectual Property and Entrepreneurship. Outside of her time spent on journal, she works as a teaching assistant for Professor Dennis Crouch’s patent law course.

Larissa Tiller | 3L

Shane Rader is a Missouri native and graduated cum laude from Missouri State University in Springfield, where he majored in Accounting and Minored in Business Law. He is a third-year JD candidate at the University of Missouri School of Law, with an anticipated graduation of May, 2020. His interests include Business Law, Estate Planning, and Tax.

Matthew Hodgson | 3L

Matthew Hodgson grew up near Sacramento, California, where he lived until he went to study at Brigham Young University. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, with an emphasis in Political Strategy and a minor in Civic Engagement Leadership. He has published two articles with BETR: one on the copyright pitfalls of movie filtering companies, and one on the antitrust standard of review for tying arrangements. He is an unabashed fan of Star Wars and  Lord of the Rings, and he graduates in May of 2020.

Andrew Dickerson | 3L

Andrew Dickerson received his Bachelors of Science degree in Business Management and Bachelors of Arts degree in International Studies from University of Missouri-Columbia in May 2015. Before entering law school in 2017, Andrew worked for State Street Corporation as an Alternative Investment Operations Specialist. Andrew grew up in Camdenton, MO and is a lifelong Mid-Missouri resident.

Zach Meyer | 3L

Zach Meyer went to the University of Arkansas for his undergraduate degree in biology. After having an epiphany my junior year of college that medical school was no longer a part of the vision he had for himself, he decided to pursue his interest in law. After three great years at Mizzou Law are completed, he will be starting his legal career at Husch Blackwell LLP in Clayton, Missouri.

Marissa Price  | 3L

Marissa was born in Appleton, Wisconsin.  After one semester of college, she served four years in the Marines and deployed to Africa, the Mediterranean, and the Middle East in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.  When her active duty contract ended, Marissa went back to school and earned her Bachelor’s from Stetson University in Finance.  She is the president of the MU Law Veteran’s society.  Upon graduation from law school, Marissa hopes to become a prosecutor and continue traveling the world.

Zach Winter  | 3L

Zachary Winter grew up in Chandler, Arizona, and is a graduate of the University of Arizona, where he majored in Economics and minored in Finance. Zachary is a third-year JD candidate at the University of Missouri School of Law. As an associate member, his article about preventing financial exploitation of senior citizens was selected for publication. He will be joining Ernst & Young’s Tax Services Practice after graduation.

James Bernskoetter  | 3L

James Bernskoetter is a third-year law student at the University of Missouri School of Law from Jefferson City, MO. In 2016, he graduated from Westminster College in Fulton, MO with a B.A. in Political Science. As an Associate Member of BETR, James had two works published: a white paper highlighting the problem of tax-exempt municipal bonds financing sports stadiums and an article describing tax increment financing and how Missouri can reform their use of the tax. During his 2L summer, James began an internship with Affordable Equity Partners in Columbia, MO. After law school, he hopes to begin a career in transactional law.

Laura DeDecker  | 3L

Laura DeDecker grew up in Kansas City, MO and has been a lifelong Chiefs and Royals fan! She received her Bachelors of Science degree in Business Management and Public Communication from Truman State University in May 2017, before entering law school later that year. Besides zealously editing footnotes for the Business, Entrepreneurship & Tax Law Review, Laura is actively involved on the Mizzou Law Board of Advocates, works as a reference assistant in the Mizzou Law Library, and enjoys doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles.

Kate Lanagan  | 3L

Kate Lanagan grew up in Joliet, Illinois. She graduated from the University of Missouri in 2017, where she majored in Biological Sciences and English. Kate works as a Teaching Assistant for the Trulaske College of Business and as a Teaching Fellow for Criminal Procedure. She enjoys baking and playing with other people’s dogs.

Lilly Sweeney | 3L

Lilly Sweeney is a third year Mizzou Law student from Springfield, Missouri. Prior to law school, she received a degree in Art History with minors in Business, History, and Film Studies from the University of Missouri. After graduation, she will start her legal career as an associate with Neale & Newman, L.L.P., in Springfield.
