"Translating classroom knowledge into practice-ready skills through advocacy based competitions"

at the University of Missouri School of Law

About Us

The Board of Advocates (BOA) is a student-run organization at the University of Missouri School of Law that provides students with opportunities to enhance their public speaking and writing skills through practical experience in a variety of advocacy based competitions.

We host a number of competitions throughout the year. Any law student, regardless of their year in school, can compete in the competitions, with the exception of the moot courts. The Polsinelli Fall Moot Court is open to 2L and 3L students, whereas the 1Ls compete in their own separate 1L Moot Court in late spring.

Get Involved

Support from law students and the local legal community has ensured the continued success of the many competitions hosted by the Board of Advocates. There are a number of roles we need filled for every competition; participation is rewarded with CLE credit for legal practitioners and points for students seeking candidacy and membership in BOA.
