This week at the Law School, students interested in judicial clerkships have an opportunity to attend “Life of a Lawyer” and meet David Franklin, ’12, a law clerk with the Honorable Roy Richter, Court of Appeals in the Eastern District of Missouri.  Mr. Franklin will chat about the law clerk experience, application process, and lifestyle of a law clerk.  The “Life of a Lawyer” series is an opportunity to network with alum in a small group setting and to learn more about a specific practice area. This event on Monday, November 11th at 1:00 in room 107 is sure to be a fun and informative discussion! Attendance is limited to twelve students and lunch will be provided, so please RSVP.

Do you need a professional photo to use on LinkedIn?  Would you like OCI employers to remember you by allowing us to use a nice photo of you with the resume packets?  On Monday – November 11th, Wednesday – November 13th, and Friday – November 15th, the Career Development Office has arranged for a photographer to take professional headshots.  Stop by the Library’s Rare Book Room (3rd floor) between 2:00 and 3:00 (Monday & Wednesday) and 12:00 to 1:00 (Friday) to get your free picture taken.

On Wednesday, November 13th at 1:00 in room 7, students will have the opportunity to attend “Alternative Careers:  Employer Panel”.  The panel of attorneys working in JD advantage positions will discuss their job duties, job skills, and why they chose their specific career paths. The participants include: Dennis Denney, Assistant Vice President of Supervision and Risk Management for the Federal Reserve Bank; Andrea Follett, Executive Director of Human Resources and Employment Law for Columbia Public Schools; Andrea Benna, Assistant Director of Compliance for Eligibility and Recruiting for MU Athletics; and Sharon Geuea Jones, the Deputy Director of Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys. This is a great opportunity to hear about employment options with a JD that you may not have considered in the past.  Pizza will be provided, and Professional Perspectives and Career Component Credit will be offered (one of the last of the semester).  Please RSVP so there will be enough food for everyone.

Join members of the Career Development Office for the monthly Boone County Bar Association (BCBA) lunch and CLE program on November 13th from 11:30 am -1:00 pm at Bleu. The CLE program will be the State of the Court Address by Presiding Circuit Court Judge, Jodie Asel.  In addition to the fantastic educational experience, this is a wonderful networking opportunity for law students. Many local attorneys attend, and students will have a few moments to visit at the lunch table prior to and following the program.  An RSVP is required, as we limit the event to four students.  The group will meet in room 103 at 11:10 to walk to Bleu. Professional dress is appropriate. Please contact Kate Busch ( with any additional questions.
