If you are interested in obtaining employment (either summer or full-time) in the public interest sector and enjoy visiting Chicago, Illinois, then you should consider attending the Midwest Public Interest Law Career Conference (MPILCC).

The MPILCC is a career conference that is only open to students enrolled in law schools in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio and Wisconsin and is hosted by the 11 Chicago area law schools.  For more information about the conference, please visit http://mpilcc.uchicago.edu/.

The Career Conference will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 in Chicago at Northwestern University School of Law.  Potential employers will be present to conduct both formal interviews as well as table talk informal networking.  Last year there were 35 separate employers conducting interviews for 1Ls, 2Ls and 3Ls.  At present there are 6 employers scheduled for interviews, but a new list of confirmed employers will be released on December 1st.

A total of 16 Mizzou law students have attended this conference in the past two years, and 9 of those students have received offers of summer employment from their attendance.  If there is enough student interest, Mizzou Law, will provide transportation to and from the conference for all students attending.  We will be leaving Thursday, February 5th, returning on February 8th.  In addition, to attending the conference, we will also visit multiple public interest legal entities as well as a Mizzou Law alumni networking reception.  Students will be responsible for their own accommodations and food during the trip.

If you would like to reserve your spot, you will need to pay a $25 deposit, to Jennifer Riedy in the Career Development Office by Friday, November 21st to defray some of the transportation and registration costs associated with this conference.  In the event there is not enough student interest and the trip is canceled, your deposit will be refunded to you in whole.

You will not be eligible to attend if you don’t put down your deposit by Friday, November 21st.  If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me at riedyj@missouri.edu.

I hope you will all consider attending this wonderful conference that allows you not only the chance to interview with wonderful employers, but also the opportunity to explore Chicago with your fellow students.
